Xiaomi patents smartphone design with reverse-notch and it's exactly what it sounds like

The notch is one of the most talked about aesthetic features in recent years that many phone makers have started adopting since Apple did it with the iPhone X. Whether you like it or not, we guarantee that the design recently patented by Xiaomi will let you feel a certain way.

Sketches of a new smartphone design with several possible variants have been exposed in a recently filed patent that was reported by Xiaomi. The patent shows several iterations of a smartphone with a notch, only the notch sticks literally beyond the top edge of the phone.

These drawings mainly show dual-type cameras placed in the inverted notch. There is also a headset suitable for phone calls. The back of the inverted notch is simply empty. I personally think that this is a missed opportunity to put the phone mark or the LED flash of the rear camera. If you want to bring out the notch, do something on both sides.

Beside the naughty comments, we do not think Xiaomi would be so successful with such a design. Even so, every time a company files a patent, it does not necessarily mean that such a patent goes into production. At this point, ZTE's dual-phone concept is more appealing than any other.
